To help documentary cinema reach the Indian audience, NFAI, Arbhaat Film Club and Raju Sutar have come together to launch a Film Club with a special focus on documentary films. The film club will showcase a documentary film every month, along with interactive sessions with filmmakers and film scholars.
Over the course of one year, the film club will also shine a spotlight on documentaries about fine-arts in India, such as painting and sculpture. “This initiative is aimed at making available a platform for short films and documentaries to the discerning audience. Short films as a genre is emerging as a potent form of storytelling and we think it deserves a regular platform,” said NFAI director Prakash Magdum.
The inaugural screening of this film club is Kamal Swaroop’s Pushkar Puran.
