COEP would always encourage students to do more, say ex-students

COEP students satellite dreams take off as the pico-satellite, named Swayam, was launched from ISRO centre at Sriharikota on June 20. A project that 176 students of the COEP (short for College of Engineering, Pune) have been working on for the past eight years is finally successful. While there is a celebratory mood on campus, ex-students of the premier college of engineer are ecstatic as well. With reason.

Abhay Abhyankar: We had such good teachers at COEP, this is partly why COEP is so successful. Ofcourse it is also a great moment of achievement for everyone associated with the college and I’m very proud as well.

Anil Agashe: I am so proud of my institute and absolutely delighted at what the students at COEP have managed to achieve. The faculty at COEP has always been top class and now the evidence is clear. They are excellent at motivating students and the results are here to see.

Avinash Ketkar: I feel proud to be part of an institute such as COEP. I would like to wish all the students who made this possible all the best and hope that they continue experimenting in new areas.

Jayant Kulkarni: I am absolutely elated and extremely happy for the students. To create a pico-satellite and working with ISRO is a fantastic achievement for students who are only at the undergraduate level. The kind of exposure and practical knowledge these students would have received; they would never get it by just reading from a book. Also, I would like to add that COEP has always, even during my time had programmes that support students to take on challenges and experiment which is great.

Mrinal Thigale: It’s a great achievement and I’m proud to be associated with such an institution which has managed such a prestigious accomplishment. I hope this brings about a good change and paves the path for beneficial educational values and practices.

Ravindra Bapat: When I read the report, I was filled with an immense sense of pride knowing that at one point I was part of this college that has achieved so much. My first thought after reading it was, that there are countries that have not been able to send out their satellites and young students from COEP have conquered this. That too with a funding of only Rs 50 lakh is commendable.
