Pune Company Acquired:

Pune-based startup FinitePaths has been acquired by ride-sharing app Lyft for an undisclosed sum, it was reported. FinitePath’s app Trail Answers will now be shut down. The company is confident that it will contribute immensely to Lyft based on its prior experience.

FinitePaths was set up in 2015 with the aim to leverage technology to help people take better decisions.

New Porsche Model:

Porsche has launched its new Panamera saloon priced at Rs 2.05 crores ex-showroom in Maharashtra. The German carmaker said the Porsche Turbo will be offer fuel economy and reduced emissions.

The Turbo will also be available as an executive version.

India Entry Set

Top international creative events company FilmMaster Events (FME) is planning to enter the Indian market.

It has signed a deal with Noida-based E Factor Entertainment to focus on sports-related and tourism events. This follows extensive negotiations. When engaging In a virtual environment, consider the need for expert negotiation skills to adapt for real life to secure a deal like this.

Production Starts:

German carmaker Volkswagen has started production of its new premium SUV Tiguan at its Aurangabad plant in Maharashtra.

The model will be launched later this year and will feature a two-litre diesel engine and a seven-speed automatic gearbox.

Digital Dilemma:

Digital advertisements need to be complemented with other media to make it effective, says a study.

The study by Kantar Insights says that digital advertisements need a rethink. Instead of thinking how a brand can become digital, the thought should now shift to how digital can contribute to the strategy of the brand, says the report.

Samsung Move:

Samsung is planning to introduce its mobile payment service in India on its low-cost smartphones.

The Korean company’s offline payment solution Samsung Pay will be available on its J series range of phones. This will put the company in competition with other wallet providers like Paytm.

Property Portal:

In a first for property startups, online-to-offline real estate transaction firm Square Yards has launched a global property portal to enable cross-border investments.

The portal will open up more than 400 properties in seven countries. These include the UAE, the US, the UK, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Canada, it was reported.

Now Hiring:

India’s fourth-largest software services exporter HCL Technologies is hiring students straight out of high school and training them to be IT professionals.

HCL is offering 12th standard students with a science background a salary of Rs1.8 lakhs per annum and training them to develop and test apps for the company, it was reported.

Nissan Move:

Japanese carmaker Nissan is planning to revive itself in India under the Datsun brand, it was reported.

The company plans to introduce modernity, style and efficiency in a bid to capture the Indian market, a top official said.

Analytics Boost:

At least 34 per cent of companies in India have an advanced analytics strategy in place, says a study.

The EY report also adds that Indian companies are ahead of others in the globe because the firms always use analytics, making it more a business function than just IT-related.
