There is nothing better than a chill down the spine after a hard day’s work or lazy weekend wiled away doing nothing.

Within the horror genre there are many different sections like creature feature, science fiction, blood and gore and films related to weird psychopaths, children, butchers, and many others.

So here is a selection of films with the advisory that watching them at night is at your own risk.

Exorcist (1973)

The 12-year-old daughter Regan (Blair) of an actress Chris McNeill (Burstyn) starts to behave strangely, restoring to obnoxious acts.  McNeill thinks she is possessed and she asks Father Merrin (Sydow) to help her exorcise the Devil from her body.

But the vicious Regan starts doing inexplicable horrors which the Father cannot counter. Then Father Dr Damien Karras (Miller) is called to do something about it.

Father Karras takes on the challenge but is never going to be easy with the possessed Regan.

A group of young people get into a nightmare situation when their car collides with another in the woods. The scary area is inhabited by cannibalistic mountain men.

While stranded the mountain men attack the group one by one. They take refuge in a cabin from but see one of their friends being mangled and cooked.

They escape the cabin but their attempts to find humanity in the area fails. Death is inevitable.

Conjuring 2 (2016)

The film is a sequel to Conjuring and it follows investigators Ed and Lorraine as they document the Amityville Murders. Lorraine is, however, dragged into the basement where a nun takes her back to a horrific murder.

The Warrens then go to England where the Hodgson family is also facing paranormal activity. These include their children.

They seek refuge at neighbours place when the media hounds them. But will they get out of this?

Two siblings and three of their friends are on the way to visit their grandfather’s grave when they become victims of cannibalistic psychopaths. They pick up a hitchhiker who slashes himself and slashes one of the others.

They manage to throw out the hitchhiker from their van but are forced to stop the van later in search of gas. They come across a slaughterhouse and here they come across the masked butcher Hansen and his weird family.

Once Hansen spots them there is no escape. Watch this film if you have strong stomach.

Siblings Barbara and Johnnie visit their mother’s grave in a remote place where Barbara is attacked by a zombie.

She takes refuge in farmhouse where she meets Ben and the two clear the house of zombies. More people join them and they decide to barricade the house. The group decide to escape the house as more zombies surround it.

They devise a plan to use Ben’s truck to escape. But things don’t work out that way.
