Bhimthadi Jatra, Pune’s Rural Carnival

One of Pune’s biggest cultural events, Bhimthadi Jatra – a four-day cultural fair that aims at bridging the gap between rural and urban India, is being organised in Pune. The brainchild of Smt. Sunandatai Pawar, the event will be inaugurated by a group of leading women from across Pune, including Smt. Mukta Tilak – Mayor of Pune City , Smt. Jyoti Priya Singh – Deputy Chief of Police, Smt. Swati Sathe – Incharge Yerwada Jail Pune, Smt. Sindhutai Sapkal – Social trailblazer, Smt. Sumantai Kirloskar-Philanthropist, Smt. Vedanti Raje Bhosale – Philanthropist and Smt. Varsha Chordia.

A special collection of traditional Aadivasi artwork will be exhibited. The Jatra will showcase local cuisine from all over Maharashtra. There will be a ‘petting zoo’ for children and their parents, live shows and a flea market. A special fashion show is also being organised. This year’s event will see a performance by ‘Raghu Dixit Project’ and ‘Resonance’.
