Pune365 spoke to citizens to check their list of ‘go to spots’ that are both nice and elder friendly and here is what we found –

Avanti Kalagram, Mulshi: A scenic resort in Mulshi, Avanti Kalagram is an excellent place and recreational spot for all enthusiastic tourists. Offering an array of leisure activity like pottery, planting, paper cutting, Jewelery making, outdoor games, camping, karaoke and much more, it provides  excellent entertainment value. A trip to this place on a weekend can be refreshing.They also provide picnic packages, art and craft workshops and also showcase varied products like bamboo planters, bamboo table lamps among others, one can choose from.

Mahadji Shinde Chhatri

Built in the early century and dedicated to the 18th century military leader Mahadji Shinde, the memoire speaks of tranquillity, peace and history. A beautifully maintained place with its beautiful intricate carvings and the Shiva temple makes it a nice place to visit. The premises houses a hall that marks the spot of Mahadji Shinde’s cremation, a Shiva temple, and a memorial constructed outside the Shiva temple in memory of Mahadji Shinde.

Kaas Plateau

A paradise for nature admirers, Kaas is now regarded as A UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. A hotspot for biodiversity, it has a wide range of flora and fauna. Spread across 10 km, Kaas has more than 850 different species of flowering plants include orchids, shrubs and carnivorous plants. Several protected and endangered plants are also found here. Spend some time amidst the rich diversity and spot the rare species of butterflies, spiders, birds and plants.

Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum

While some might prefer the outdoors, but for the history geek, Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum located in Sadashiv Peth is ‘the’ spot. This museum has lots to offer. Private collections like the musical instruments of Raja Kelkar is a huge treasure here. The three-storey building also has a “Mastani Mahal” which Raja Kelkar tried to recreate.

Vetal Tekdi

It is a prominent hill in the city and also the highest point within city limits. Prefect for nature lovers to walk amidst the lush green trails of the hills. Exuding refreshing vibes, the place can revive and reboot the entire body. Perfect to escape from the hustle of life, there is a Vetala temple also located at the top. A walk uphill everyday is great cardio for your workout. Trek uphill before dawn to enjoy the beautiful sunrise and the amazing serenity.
