How To Avoid Unwanted FB Friends

FAcebook friends

There was a time when the number of friends on Facebook was the measure of your popularity. But as time went by and many friends entered, suddenly it all became a pain in the neck.

Yes, this Facebook thing could be annoying if a little known friend pings you late at night, asking you how you were.  Excuse me, it is 2am and the dream world of fast cars, beautiful women and close encounters of the lucid kind.. !

And just when you thought that the seductress in the sexy dress was about to step into your Ferrari, there goes that plop sound again… and again. Damn.

Here are some ways you can avoid being trapped and continue your James Bond spell or continue in peace whatever you are doing.

Switch off phone: Easy to do, but difficult to follow. This Facebook thing is so addictive that one needs to check it until sleep takes over. There are so many doubts creeping up when you switch off the phone.

What if the apple of your eye suddenly messages you in the middle of the night just to say how much she or he loves you?  This would ruin the next few days. What if there is an urgent message from a friend? Or what if someone is dead? Not an easy option, but try it.

Check friends: This compulsion to add friends on Facebook lands you up with many unwanted people. Sometimes you see two mutual friends and add. It turns out that it is just not worth it. You make up the numbers but fall short on quality. Check profile too to be on the safe side.

The probe: This happens with new additions. Beware. It may be dangerous. If you do, get ready for a probe which would make you feel that the CBI is questioning you. This usually happens just when you are watching TV or other important tasks before bed.

Listen, there is everything on your profile section. If they persist, ignore, or befriend them if it gets too much, providing that you are not going trying to impress them.

Avoid predators: These are people who hide their sexual orientation and actually make a pass at you. Block immediately and don’t respond ever after.

Alertness: Go off Facebook as soon as an unwanted person begins to type a message. Always remember those twinkling dots when someone is writing. That is the right time to escape.

Late replies: Late replies are a good way of sending out a message to the other side that you were busy and did not have time to respond. This is among the best things to do as the person gets confused and feels guilty that you were disturbed when busy. Take two days to reply sometimes to deter the person completely.

Don’t reply: Go for it. Leave all the Good Mornings and Good Evenings pass. That is the best way to show disinterest.
