Pune is a city of wonderful calmness to me. The people are friendlier and there is an element of discipline. The city has fantastic food ranging from Maharashtrian cuisine to several others. I often visit the Poona Club and the Royal Western India Turf Club especially during the monsoons. You can see the rains from almost a kilometre. I love the old institutions in the city like Poona Coffee House and the Irani chai shops, that are dying one-by-one in Mumbai. The culture is beautiful here for all the music lovers and youngsters with the Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Festival and as for theatre, there is always something going on at the Bal Gandharva Ranga Mandir. Pune has managed to retain the Maharashtrian culture and pride. It is still pristine. I hope it stays this way.
