Prithvi Edifice Cup 2016 : TCS qualify for knock outs in style

Tata Consultancy Services registered a comfortable 9-wicket win over Johnson Controls India (JCI) to become the first team to qualify for the knockout stage of the 2nd Prithvi Edifice Cup 2016 Inter IT T20 Cricket Championship at the Deccan Gymkhana, here on Saturday.

In a one-sided Group-2 game, JCI could only manage 115 after Gaurav Singh (3/18) and Sunil Babar (3/20) clamped down their innings. The JCI innings pushed the three-figure mark courtesy a responsible knock by Rana Thakurta (36) and Bhushan Vichare (23 n.o).

TCS later went about their job with ease. An 111-run opening wicket partnership between Gaurav Singh (59) and Vikramjeet Singh (39 n.o) helped the side reach the total after 9.3 overs.

In Group-8, Tech Mahindra built upon the efforts of Ankit Thakre (53) and Sachin Pimprikar (61 n.o) to hand MasterCard a 53 run defeat.  Batting first after being out in, Tech Mahindra scored 174/5 with Ankit and Sachin building the innings with a valuable 81-run third wicket partnership which laid the foundation.

MasterCard choked and was bowled out for 121.

In other matches, Deutsche Bank logged a huge nine-wicket win over Harman Connected Services, while Siemens Software restricted Vinsys Technologies and won by 43 runs.
